New Foundation Support for LPCS

As we begin our permanent supportive housing program, the Independent Community Living Program, we are fortunate to be funded, not only by a grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), but also by local foundations who are new in their support of LPCS: the Field Foundation and the Pierce Family Foundation.  These Foundations provide the local match to fund program needs above and beyond rent for 15 individuals: case management, transportation costs for appointments, program supplies, etc.  The Field Foundation of Illinois is practically a household name in Chicago, having been founded by none other than Marshall Field in 1940.  The Field Foundation supports new and innovative programs, particularly serving underserved populations.  We are proud to have their support as we begin our newest initiative.

In contrast, the Pierce Family Foundation has just celebrated its fifth anniversary, having formalized the philanthropy of Denis and Martha Pierce in 2007 and focusing support on agencies providing essential social services for housing and opportunities for homeless people. 

Of course, we couldn’t grow our programs without support for our core programs.  We’ve also received new support for general operations for our successful continuum of programs from the Crown Family Philanthropies. Started by Ari and Ida Crown in 1947 through their successful business ventures, the Foundation supports Human Services, as well as Health, Environmental, Educational and Jewish Charitable initiatives.
